BMS 3:75 Billet exhaust tip peeling

Hi guys,

I fitted some black BMS 3:75 Billet exhaust tips approximately 2 months ago, covered approximately 500 miles and the coating black coating has peeled away on 2 of the tips. I have contacted the company i purchased them from for a full refund, still waiting for their response.
Has anybody else has this problem.

Interesting. Negative. I have a set for sale currently in classifieds that I’ve had for about a year and 3,000 miles. They look good as new. I wonder what caused that!

Yes, one of my tips started peeling on the lower inside after just a few hundred miles. I plan to contact BMS and see what they can do.

thats why the oem black are anodized and not powder coated. this is just a failure of the powder's adhesion to the metal.

I powder coated my stock chrome tips gloss black a couple of years ago and they look great. I prepped them properly by blasting the chrome finish. Maybe I did not pay close enough attention to the tips, but I thought they were steel not aluminum and I thought anodizing was for aluminum not steel.

This. It's mostly likely lifting because of that sharp edge being pelted by the exhaust gasses causing it to lift.
