But IMHO, that 6" isnt going to make a big difference day in and day out. M2? Well sure, its bigger, but the topic is in regard to M3 v m5. |

16” length, 5” width and 500lbs difference for 2024 M2 and 2023 M5 is a big difference that would definitely be noticed in downtown parking, at least big city parallel parking. Also on nimbleness and feel.
I don’t live in a big city, next to a racetrack, or near deserted canyon or mountain roads where the considerations above are most important. I like my M5 and appreciate its space, comfort and power, and think its handling is decent for its size and weight. But if I was 20 years younger or more, I’d choose an M2 or M3 over the M5. |

I could see myself driving an M3 10-15 years ago also. M2? Hmmmm, have never really been a fan, but it's great for what it is and what it can do. Maybe when I was 18-25 the M2 could be ok, but I think then I would still want at least an M3. You are right on the width at 74” vs 75” for M2 vs M5 — that won’t make any noticeable difference. 6” or 12” can make a difference in big city parallel parking, but the reality is that you can just drive around longer looking for a bigger space and almost always find one, but sometimes literally every inch counts when you are squeezing into a tight one. I grew up in a big city, but am happy not to live in one now.

I’ve always liked M5s. The only M3s I really liked were the E9X and G8X. Former because of that engine and the latter because of its behavior on track.
I wanted a used G80 but couldn’t find the right spec and condition, went F90 and I’m thrilled with it. Fixed everything I had issue with and options I was missing on my F10. |

I had a 2021 G80 base (manual) then upgraded to a 2023 F90 (comp) two years in. I do like the looks of the G80 in person. Even better than the M5. The black grill with Tanzanite blue on the G80 worked well together imho. However:
I got tired of driving a manual and so did my passengers. I had an E46 with a stick and it was my favorite car. But the G80 had so much more power. My passengers got tired of all the head bobbing between 1st and 2nd. The additional room in the M5 is welcome. V8 power V8 sound I was amazed at how much grip the RWD G80 had, but I also wanted 4WD which the M5 has. I spent two days at the track with M Track Days. So much fun. Several laps in the M4 and M5. The M4 Comp was close enough to my M3 for comparison. I had way more fun with the M5 than the M4. The M5 just felt so much more planted and predictable. The M4 felt a little quicker out of the turns, but it also felt squirrelly in the chicane and under really hard breaking. It could be that the tires were just more torn up, but was a stark difference. I just felt way more comfortable in the predictable M5. The lap times were about the same between the two. It also felt like the I6 was at it’s limit where the V8 had more to give if the track would allow. From a “luxury” perspective I really think they were pretty close. A lot of people are saying M5, but from what I recall the M3 was just as nice. I’m glad I had the fun with the M3 and that I have an M5 now. If I could do it over, I’d do it again the same way. Oh, the gas mileage was better in the M3 and it costs less but give me the M5. |

I came from a 2022 M3 XDrive & 2023 M3 Xdrive. In my opinion, the G80 is a wondeful platform, honestly it’s the best platform out right now, however I feel it’s the best platform for tuning primarily. I just recently traded in my G80 for a 23 LCI F90 Comp and I’m over the moon about it still. The S63 sounds so good in my opinion, there’s no comparsion to the S58. I daily drove both of my previous cars, but now daily driving the F90 is wonderful with massaging seats and bowers and wilkins. I see some people complaining about the B&W, but personally I love them and it gives it a big bump from my “fake B&W” from my G80 AKA I used bimmercode. The bass is there and it’s clear in my eyes. I also enjoy iDrive 7.5 better than iDrive 8 because i need to have a driver orientd zone, the ID8 cars dont get a upper dashboard surround, it’s an iPad on a dashboard. Another thing I also believe the F90’s could possibly have a depreciation curve like the F80 because this is BMW’s last I guess you can say “golden era BMW apperance” before they do big grills on everything. On my G80 I had the vorsteiner grills which made it look nice etc, but the G99 is atrocious, not my cup of tea. It may have wide rear hips and all the newest tech, but it doesn’t have an intimidating look like the LCI F90. In my eyes, LCI>Pre LCI just my opinion though, I’m super happy with my choice, for those wondering I didn’t have carbon seats in either of my G80s, but most of my buddies do and I’m not the biggest fan of them because they are too stiff.

I'm sorry I can't help myself in these threads. This one isn't bad at all but its usually... "I have an RS7 it's a far superior car please tell me why your lowly M5 deserves consideration of ownership" So I usually just write... "the *input car here* is far superior in every way. Get or keep that"

I’m going with a 2025 G82 because there is no 2025 G90. Maybe once it’s released I’ll trade. I’ve had the E46, E92, F82, and F90. I appreciate all platforms and both have their advantages and disadvantages. Depends on your needs and desires. All subjective and personal preferences.
