Good morning everyone. I am looking to purchase a 2020 m5. The car is CPO. My question is when can I purchase the platinum extended warranty the BMW offers. Is it possible to purchase it right before my CPO warranty expires? Or does it have to be purchased when I purchased the car.

Usually you are able to negotiate better deal outright when purchasing vehicle. There was a member here that would offer reasonable pricing on warranties. Look him up cause unfortunately I don’t remember his nickname.

Ask for cpo wrap. Usually cheap. Looks like car is being sold at an Autonation dealer.

I was going to pay for the extended when I bought my CPO M5C at the end of November 2022! They ended up throwing it in for free for me. Basically, I get unlimited miles and up to August 2026 for my 2019 Model M5C.

Try and get the 6 year extended one for free. If not, still worth paying for it in my eyes!

They just “threw in” a $7000 warranty? Never heard of an “unlimited mile” platinum level extended warranty. Gonna need your dealers name and number asap with that kind of candy.

Need details. Had unlimited miles 2 years on my S550 but never heard of 3/4 years unlimited miles on any BMW, especially M cars.

Call Steve Thomas BMW in Calabassas, CA. They sell CPO wrap warranties over the phone to anyone. I got a quote from them for $4000 for the CPO “wrap” that adds 2 more years to the standard CPO warranty - for a total of 7 years from when the car was titled.

The selling dealer was giving me crazy prices like $5500-6000…i told them I got a 4000 quote from Steve Thomas and they very reluctantly matched it.

If your dealer won’t match it - just buy it after the fact from any BMW dealer. You can buy it at ANY time as long as you are under FACTORY warranty. NOT under CPO warranty. W/in the first 4 years of factory warranty.

Any dealer can sell it to you..not just the dealer you buy it from.

The cpo warranty isn't nearly that much lol and yes you get unlimited mileage with the bmw platinum cpo warranty if you chose to extend past normal cpo warranty. Little loophole you can do if you lease and buy back is have dealer cpo the car for you before buying it back (yes it can be done) then extend warranty for 7 years unlimited miles.

I was in the same situation a while back. If you get an extended warranty, I highly recommend you get it from a BMW dealer. It might be more expensive, but at least you know the dealer won't have an issue getting reimbursed for covered parts and labor. Biggest issue with aftermarket warranties, is getting them to actually pay.

It was not totaling up to 7K, and yes they did "throw it in for me" while I went through the finance team of add on's. I use Sterling BMW in Newport Beach. Family owned and extremely nice people. They do not mind the modded cars either. Owner has a nice collection at the dealer as well.
