M5C Ordered
After visiting my dealer 2 weeks ago I finally got my allocation & order accepted for an M5C (Marina Bay/Tartufo) with all the options except CCBs and sunroof. They were having some trouble with the Tartufo part but got it sorted after some delay.
Now the interminable wait beings. I test drove an M550, M5, and M5C all back in 2019 but due to various factors I wasn't able to get my wife on board. Then I was looking into the CT5-V Blackwing but after a terrible dealer experience (and still no allocations anywhere) I was able to get my wife on board with the M5. I wanted an E39 M5 back in 2001, ended up in a 04 CTS-V, then wanted the E60 M5, ended up in my current 09 CTS-V. I'll miss those manuals a little bit but know I'll be happy with the M5. |

Nice one of my favorite colors. Make sure you double check your build sheet and log onto MyGarage when you have a production number and make sure all the options match what you ordered — especially since you mentioned troubles. If you see something wrong in time you can fix it before it’s too late. Most likely no issues though - congrats!

My build sheet looks good. I pretty much have it all memorized by now. They had to dump the 50 year M roundels to submit the individual order. I never added them and they don't show as deleted either so who knows what was up with that.
Does anyone know why it shows a 10k mile oil change (8KL) as an option on the sheet? I thought you got 36k anyway. I looked at my wife's 2019 X5 build sheet and it has that too. I debated the MPE based on posts here but decided to skip it for now. I can all get it or something else later if I feel the need. I'd rather spend the money on a 2nd set of 789M wheels for my winter set. CF doesn't really interest me. Maybe if I see it in person I'll change my mind. |

I was just trying to you to spend more money so I'd feel better about my lack of self control.

Correct, you can keep the dap, I think you just lose the heating, or it's the other way around, I'd have to dig through some emails for the answer. Best bet is to have your wheel custom wrapped however you'd like.

Great spec but then again I’m biased.
Let’s see if we can help you empty out your wallet a little more.

I've spent a while researching CCBs for both this car and the Blackwing and decided they aren't for me. BTW, can anyone tell me if I check the build status more often will the car get built faster? Like pressing the elevator button a bunch? |

Whatever your brain has told you about ccbs is wrong. (Unless you are seriously planning to track this vehicle). What your brain mean to say is you want. No. Need ccb. I haven’t cleaned my car in two weeks and have quite a bit of spirited driving and my wheels are basically clean sans a bit of road dirt and driving in one rain storm. Plus they look great. And are lighter. Did I mention they are virtually zero dust? Get the ccb. You’ll love them.

Lol I tried hard to get bmw to color match my calipers from factory to my paint or at least red, was firmly denied on both requests tried asking a second time just for good measure, so definitely can't be done. Can always buy a set of m5cs calipers in red later on.

To OP:
On this site please do a search for brake noise with the steel brakes. If you have the money get the carbon ceramics. I have owned 2 F90 M5's 1 with and 1 without, and I will never own an M5 without the CCB's.

I plan to keep this car for 150k miles (silly on an M car I know) and really don't want to pay the price of a small crap car to replace all 4 rotors (from normal wear or because some doofus bumps the rotor with the wheel). My goal is to track this a bit in a couple years. I've had the 09 V on the track 4 times and it really is the only way to fully appreciate cars like this. But don't get me started on the annoying floating rear caliper with the integrated park brake. So annoying because it makes a 60 second pad change take longer. I know it's not necessary for performance, but when has that stopped BMW or any other brand from doing something? Pads were easy on both V's with all fixed calipers. |

The steel brakes on my ‘23 don’t make any noise at all.
