"'It's incredibly rainy': Glasgow welcomes Cop26 activists amid waste crisis | Cop26 | The Guardian" https://amp.theguardian.com/environm...s-waste-crisis
civil disobedience is the only remaining option to draw attention to the extremity of the climate crisis, and Glasgow will be the focal point for protesters from Sunday onwards, with Extinction Rebellion planning “high impact disruption” and Greta Thunberg joining a school strike march next Friday. groan no... meanwhile terminator speaks https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-e...t-59036814.amp |

Something strangely ironic about climate activists 'flying in' from South America and elsewhere.
At least Greta took a boat back in the day not withstanding the crew had to fly out which kind of defeated the object. |

Just seen a bunch of protesters en route to a demo in city centre. They were on on bike and all over the road. Obviously not been in bikes in years an just out to annoy motorists!
Let the fun begin!!! Glad I wasn't in the i3 as they may have befriended me!!! |

Was in town today and the lunatic fringe was warming up (pun intended) for the main event. A steady stream of sweaty lesbians and wild-eyed lunatics on the edge of oblivion, to quote the Young Ones. As Mrs BT observed, maybe people would take them more seriously if they washed occasionally and dressed like normal people

Entertainingly, an extended selection of costumed Glaswegian bams who’d clearly been on the Hallowe’en sauce since lunchtime joined the procession - at times it was a challenge to differentiate the revellers from the protesters

I live pretty much on the flight path for Edinburgh airport and have never seen so many private jets, knackered old Tristars (remember them?!) and other assorted junk flying in with trails of black half burnt avgas behind them, usually from some tin pot country as I have in the last five days. Some irony when they're all going to be telling us to fly less, drive less and live on lettuce for evermore.

Good luck to "Insulate Britain" if they decide to superglue themselves to a road in Glasgow in November...
They better be wearing snorkels!!! They will be begging to be arrested to stop coming down with hypothermia after getting a soaking |

Watching the COP26 coverage really is like watching comedy TV. Boris stands there talking about how important reducing emissions is whilst encouraging local flying and keeping the fuel duty escalator on pause.
Listening to a member of the royal family go on about 'doing our bit' for climate change when they have never done a days of real work in their lives is bordering on insulting to all the working families struggling to pay higher energy costs. I cannot see how anyone honestly thinks as a species we can actually reduce consumption when consumption is what drives the wealth of developed countries. Putting in aircon seems to be most effective way to mitigate the impact of climate change on an individual level, that and ensuring you can get flooding cover. |

Prince Charles has done his bit, it seems - he's had his vintage Aston Martin converted to run on excess English white wine and whey from cheese - what a weapons grade tool.
