Siri integration gone?
In my 2018 M5, if I pressed and held the microphone button on the steering wheel, it would pull up Siri through the car for dictating text messages, calling up music, or anything else.
My 2021 doesn't seem to want to do this. Is something not setup properly, or is this feature gone if I don't use CarPlay? Thx.

Siri is exclusive to CarPlay, so yes, it's gone if you don't use CarPlay.
If you connect your phone using regular bluetooth you can use the regular iDrive voice commands.

That's bizarre. I have never used carplay, but my iPhone is connected by bluetooth. When I click on the mic button on the car, it brings up siri and not the car's voice commands. Strange. I wonder if they changed the software in later years (mine is an '18).

My 18 would bring up Siri if you long press the microphone. I never used CarPlay either but it appears you have to enable it in the 21s to get the long press Siri feature. It’s actually quite improved over previous versions of CarPlay. I can use Waze full screen but can go back to iDrive using the hard buttons on the consul.
