Well, after following these "forged upgrades" motors for several years I can truly understand why there are some forum members that do not see the benefits as clearly as others. I was about to pull the trigger on this upgrade with my F10 M5 due to the possibility of grenading my car as it was pushing 680 rwhp and had a built trans. Fortunately, around that time I was offered funds that I don't think anyone else would have so, I sold the car. Hence, I am almost at the same point that I was before and now with my F90. It would be worth it to me as I see an F90 that can walk most other supercars as long as I am reasonable with my expectations. I will still be driving a gentleman's sedan.

Forged
No. I believe that BMW purposely placed this type of rods and internals to protect them from the damage that could be inflicted by owners to the rest of the drivetrain. This "fuse" type of weak link in the engine will give owners pause when trying to get optimum performance. GM now has forged internals in the supercharged and turbo'd motors and they have done well with owners that have a lead foot or are very young and don't care about the consequences.

You should also add some more context when comparing just dragy numbers. You can’t expect a car from a higher elevation with a much warmer temp run the same numbers as a car from the east coast which is where you are. I’m more than certain your 5.9 will be be more like 6.5-7.0 in Arizona. Location makes a huge difference when just looking at numbers like that. Half mile here in AZ in two weeks, bring your car over let’s see how it does. I’m expecting to hit mid 4s on a 60-130 eventually. I rather get there safely then just hit that number with toasted engine after. Tuning this car has been a pain in the ass especially being a 2020 model. Over time I’ll get there. Also this post wasn’t about my car being complete and which it’s not. You can see by my post count that I’m not on here often, but whenever I have an update I’ll share. |

To answer the question of why I did the build that I did is very simple. I pushed my car to the limit on what it could do stock, and bend a rod. Perfect excuse to go bigger. Also a perfect example for those individuals that are raving about their extreme low 60-130 on stock motors until no more 60-130. Look at the F10 crowed and you will know exactly what I mean. It’s pretty much the same engine besides a few extra goodies.

I was testing an e50 tune at 28psi. Psi spiked during the first gear pull and probably where the damaged happened. It was a custom tune and was still logging it when it happened. There was no knock warning during or even after, and no CEL after the damage. Car was even driving normal after, but I could hear the tick. So I would say anything over 27 / 28 is really pushing it on stock motor.

LOL. new platform, same dummies. Throw a flash tune, dp, fuel and they want to squeeze out 900hp and race every night and expect it to not break. Love it. |

Blackstone-labs.com. Expensive blue chip car sales ask for this analysis on a lot of different makes. You can get the containers and mailing kits by contacting them. Takes about two weeks and $ 30 per kit cost. I definitely ask for one on heavy equipment which we purchase for the company. Saves a lot of excuses by the seller.

RK Autowerks is a complete scam. ( I dont say that lightly) Spent $45k for my full motor build and a car that runs .1 faster than bone stock w/ a JB4 and WMI kit.
Have filed suit against Raza Khalid / RK. He had till last Friday to respond. Have 6 other people joining with more suits due to fault/fraudulent engine builds. Guy has even swapped blocks from a M5 to a 550i block on someone.. Avoid him. BTW 1000hp vs 600hp isnt a .3 improvement. Here's the full story with Raza trying to defend himself and then fully being caught lying multiple times. Refusing to help with BOTH my cars he did and came out not running. Saying my car ran a 4.63 60-130 reliably then I showed my text ( on the forum link below) from him admitting it made 1/11 runs properly and had total drivetrain failures every other time and broke up. Sad there's so many scammers in the industry. So many people have come out of the woodwork with horror stories. https://www.facebook.com/groups/f10m...77205942528916 See the whole story above. There is a reason he only takes wire transfers.

On other models, BMW has an asinine system that disconnects the alternator at full throttle to save a whopping 4 horsepower.... To bad it drops your voltage from 14.7 to 11ish after being at full throttle for a bit. 3 volts on the battery is equal about 9000 volts on the spark plugs, greatly increasing the chances for misfires at high boost on tuned engines. Again not sure if the F90 has this same issue as other models and its probably a much more complex issue with the drive train errors then something so simple as low voltage BUT why not eliminate the easiest variables first plus its so easy to test: Turn your blower to full speed and make a run and floor it right to the kickdown switch but not completely. Turning on your Blower to its highest setting on previous gens will increase voltage as it overrides the "intelligent" battery system so the alternator is engaged all the time and not just in coasting or braking or when the voltage drops below 11. TLDR Version: Turn your blower to highest setting, floor it but don't hit the kickdown switch. See if it effects limp mode Last edited by Sophisticated Redneck; 03-30-2021 at 05:13 AM.. |
