I'm still waiting to be able to send mine in for an upgrade
Was going to months ago, and decide to hold off. Ended up screwing myself.

https://www.stereophile.com/content/...n-loudspeakers The new LS50 Meta is completely redesigned and the improvement is NOT subtle. Transparency, detail, and output are all very much improved. The best part is the price is the same $1500/pair. KEF dealers in my area of responsibility are super psyched because they know KEF has delivered a spectacular value in a true audiophile-worthy monitor.

Apple Watch 6 40mm GPS (No cellular)
So far I like it a lot. The screen blows away the screen on my Garmin Fenix 5 and for most uses I think it's equal to the Garmin , if not better. And having full email, Whatsapp, and Messages right there on the watch beats the tiny notifications I could get on the Garmin. The remote control for the camera in my iPhone is pretty cool, although other than the occasional selfie out on a bike ride, I don't know how often I'd use that.

My absolute favorite Apple Watch function is to ping your iPhone so you can find it. I probably use this feature at least a couple of times a week.

But I agree very useful. I also use the water drop function a lot (stops face input until the crown is turned)

It's replacing our 89 Delica camp/ski mobile that we just sold. So the basic plan is to outfit for camping, skiing, and longer road trips than we dared take in the Delica. I kept our ARB awning and zip in tent room from the Delica build to that'll get installed as soon as I trash the OEM roof rack and replace with a full roof Baja rack. Then It'll just be bolt on parts let steel bumpers, skid plate, winch, Jerry cans, lighting, a bigger tires. I actually like the OEM wheels. May have them powder coated bronze. Sleeping platform inside. That about it. No crazy suspension or engine mods. We want it to get us around comfortably, reliably, in all conditions. Going to venture out to Yellowstone, Tahoe, Moab, Black Hills, etc. over the next year or two as work schedules allow. |

Nice! I love those things! Came really close to buying one a few years ago, but the guy thought he had Range Rover and wanted WAY too much for it. My only dislike is the white top. They should have made black and gray an option. Congrats!

Yeah, prices are bananas on these right now. Based on what we paid, ours has depreciated all of 5% since 2014. We looked at a ton of them in the mid to upper $20k range that were basket cases, high miles, beat to shit. We sucked it up and paid for the last model year and super low miles (60k). the thing is mint. Looks brand new inside and out, but boy did it cost us. On the flipside, the Delicas are also in high demand and goin for crazy dollars. We sold that one for a laughably high sum of money so that helped a bunch. |

I've been a Jeep guy since day 0 (mom was pregnant with me in her little CJ, my first car was a Wrangler, list goes on), but I'm in the middle of cutting a deal for a final year 80 Series Land Cruiser right now. Crazy to think out of the dozens of vehicles I've owned, this will by my first Toyota. Pretty stoked. Quote:

My uncle bought one of these new back in the day; I don't think he had it for a week and he brought it in to have the white painted to match the body. Sleek look, but just didn't seem right... |

But the reality is that I spent more time than I have to spare working on it and we never felt free to just jump in and drive more than 100 miles. Anything beyond about 100 miles was this huge production of loading up tools, critical supplies, etc. "just in case"... we want to do a multi-week trip this winter. Ski in Montana. Wind our way down through Zion. Then over to Palm Springs to warm up and visit my folks before driving back to Seattle up the Pacific Coast Highway. 3,300 miles round trip. Wouldn't think twice about it in the FJ. The Delica though? Not a chance! |
