M5 Guy's 2020 M5 Comp Oxford Green Metallic II Journal
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Hope everyone's new year is off to a good start. Mine started with a bang. This began in August last year as my lease was ending on my f10. I knew for the f90 I wanted to make it special. For us car guys I think all of us here have a car that got away. A car they should not have sold. For myself, that was my e46 M3 in Oxford Green Metallic II over cinnamon. As such I decided to rekindle that initial passion and make the f90 as close as possible. Luckily individual agreed to the color so the plan was executed. The build: 2020 M5 Comp Oxford Green Metallic II over full Aragon with dark carbon trim Ceramic Brakes Executive package Bowers and Wilkins Sound CF Kidneys and fender grills CF Pro Spoiler CF mirror covers Pics at the dealer: Profile from work: As usual this thread will act as a sort of journal for the build. I'm hoping the build won't get too crazy, but we will see how that goes. |

So first update here. Car went to my mechanics this past weekend for the first round of mods. This round is focusing mostly on suspension with a bit of protection and sound thrown in. M cars in the past have always been about handling not so much power. These days it seems all anyone wants them for is straight line brutality. I still like to turn so I focused on that first. This round includes:
KW V4's Dinan Tension Strut Ball Joint Kit Dinan Rear Suspension Link kit Falline Oil Cooler Guard Eventuri Intake PTP blanket - This is a carry over item from my f10. Going to see if it still fits since s63 still. My mechanic's place is also very rustic so I took the opportunity to take a few pics. Very Hawaii: This pic is from inside his e30 touring, thing is awesome! Final pic of the gas cover missing Until next time...

As for cornering, the Comp does well as is. Of course, I've no idea what effect these Dinan mods will have but, compared to my 2017 RS7 Perf and 2018 E63S, my 2019 M5 Comp was in a different league. On the topic of straight-line speed: get yourself a JB4 and run with it. The mods you're making are already gonna cause warranty questions so give her the power to justify the look! PS: what's going on with the filler cap in that pic? PPS: what's the PTP blanket... "pissed their pants" urine protection screen? Last edited by limeypride; 01-13-2020 at 06:59 PM.. |

When it comes to power I'm utilizing a lessons learned approach here. Popped the weasel on my f10 so I rather not go through that expense again. Warranty only solutions for now. Currently that leaves me with Racechip for a piggyback or CarBahn for a flash tune. I will be doing almost all hardware though. It's only when messing with the software that you truly kiss your warranty goodbye. Btw to your PTP comment. I definitely hand out one to each occupant. Have to protect the interior somehow. The blanket is actually another form of heat protection for the engine bay. It has been compatible with all other s63 M cars so I'm hoping it works here. Sits on top of the metal heatshield for the initial cats/turbos to help take care of the heat. The heat is atrocious in the engine bay so anything is better than nothing. A link if you are still curious: https://www.ptpturboblankets.com/pro...5-m-x6-m-m5-m6 Missing gas cap is a hint of the next round of mods. Needed to send it to IND for paintmatch. Quote:

Yeah the JB4 is an awesome bit of kit for this one. I like how the basic map 1 is integrated with their EWG controls.Plus logging makes it very impressive. In Hawaii we only have 92 here and the last performance shop closed down on Oahu. To get high octane and or meth is now prohibitively expensive here. So I'm just looking for pump 92 gains only. Don't want to mess with the high octane shenanigans. Not many people know of their s63 specific blanket as the marketing for it is basically non existent. Anything helps though as the HOT V is indeed HOT. |

I have the same 92 octane gas as you but I add 6oz of BOOSTane Pro to each tank. I now run map 6 with my own customized boost targets as my daily driver. This yields:
These numbers are consistently achievable even on isolated and shitty farm roads. The only mod I have that really contributes to this performance is the JB4 (excluding the octane booster, of course). Congrats on the car--can't wait to see the mods progress! |

The dealer did not remove the shipping blocks. I thought it looked high at the dealer and then I hit the bump stops on the way home. Took a look, showed my client adviser via text, and then promptly removed them. Good news is I'm getting some mperformance mats out of the mistake so I'll have an extra 50 hp coming my way soon.
