My car has been at the VPC for a week now. Hoping the vehicle is actually on a truck to dealership and MyBMW site is just lagging. I have quite a bit of CF exterior going on so I know that must play into my time spent at port.

Production Week 21 (May 20). If my memory serves me correctly you Trevor were much more vocal regarding the torturous wait
Everything on the West Coast takes longer. I’ve got the best distraction going right now being on vacation in Europe. Still am anxious about what will be waiting for me when I return stateside. This vacation was actually supposed to include European Delivery of the car but I just didn’t see the right deal back when I ordered ....

I waited a total of nine months due to an initial delay in Individual orders. One silver lining is that the lease rates improved in January, by the time I got the car. So there's always a good angle out there

My car is finally at the dealership after order was accepted by BMW on March 12 for production week 21 allocation!!

Vehicle actually arrived last week to the dealership. I’m vacationing now in Europe on a trip that was supposed to include European Delivery of this car. Just couldn’t find a deal back then on European Delivery.

Must say there is no better way to go back to reality from an awesome vacation than having a car waiting for you ! Also no wait for redelivery of car after doing a Welt delivery!

I rented a German tank for the portion of this trip in Germany and Austria. It was a brand new (less than 1000 miles) 2019 GLS 63 AMG (577 hp). So I fulfilled some AutoBahn fun alll the same ! My group had 6 people or I would have done SIXT rental of something smaller and of course more agile ...

I rerun stateside this Wednesday and have to button up final lease contract with my CA.

So basically 2 months from the production week. But, it took you 2 1/2 month to get to that week. So 4 1/2 months.. Just ordered mine and already dreading the wait

Yeah..My CA seems pretty high volume so with the deal I was after I had to accept the wait. Also, as much as it kills all of here who endure it...the wait gets you a custom spec’d car. In my case my car has custom order paint (2 additional wks tacked on to process) as well as a bunch of carbon fiber trim installed at the port.

I’m annoyed to report that fate dealt me Pireli tires. I’ve already ordered the Michelin Sport 4S and will throw them crap Pirelli’s on the car at lease end. Have some other mods planned as well.

Did you happen to order side skirts in Carbon? My dealer is saying they only come in black from the port. Seems wrong to me

He is wrong. I will post pics. For complete list of what is available on your order try -

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/BMW-M-PERFORMANCE

I chose most every exterior CF option. I got to see my car in person and am very pleased! I still have to finalize my deal with a notary (sign contract) since my client adviser is on the opposite side of the country. Hoping to do courtesy delivery of the car either Saturday or Sunday.

If your interested I can text you pics of the CF on my car. Private message me.

If you look at 2020 the M5 isn't listed. However if you use 19' you can see them all. However, some are missing. I was able to order mirror caps but don't see them on there.

Not necessarily. You need to understand what build week your dealer has available for their allocations. From the actual build week itself, you can assume about 4-6 weeks depending on where you are in the world.

Trevor is right though, I think it's pretty typical for it to be 2-3 months. However, if you order next week it will take at least 3 weeks longer than usual because of the August shut down. But, yea some dealers allocations are pretty far out.

The plant in Germany that produces the 5 series (and others I believe) is currently down for the month (or so we hear), so ordering next week means they (presumably) won't start producing it until at least the first week or September. So, best case would be early November for arrival, depending on where you are.

Also understand that it depends on your dealers available allocations, along with if there's a delay for the individual paint. Normally individual paint can delay a month or more, but the $1950 implies (to me at least) they're more ready to paint that color than a true individual.

I ordered my car 2 1/2 weeks ago. I was told my build week was 9/9 to 9/16. I think all allocations were jammed as there isn't any for August which makes the next few months more packed with orders. Guessing I wont see my car until late October at best but most likely November. And with my luck it will be February..haha

There's no allocations in August, because the plant is shutdown, they're not building anything that month. I doubt there's a huge backlog of 5 series orders waiting, given that not much changed. Some people (like me) were waiting for the new IDrive and dash, some for the new M550i engine or battery improvements in the 530e but I doubt it was a huge number of people. There will obviously be a number of dealer stock orders queued up, but I think those are lower priority.

I ordered mine in early-mid July, had a July 23rd build date (got lucky with that) but unfortunately mine is apparently sitting on the dock at Bremerhaven waiting for a boat, if the BMW site is to be believed, for the last 10 days. I'm still hopeful to receive mine by Labor Day, but who knows at this point.

My car has been released to the truck since last tuesday and still no show at the dealer. My dealer is unaware of where it is at or why it is taking so long
