I think they have some good points... It's not a car that's significantly more fun than a more vanilla 5-series unless you push it in ways that you can rarely do legally and safely on US public roads. It's not like, say, a Porsche Cayman which feels more fun even when driving normally. I still prefer the M5 to a Cayman, so don't get me wrong, but that's not because of the fun factor.

These reviews today take me back to 2003 when I had my E39 M5 and so many car reviewers said just get a 540i. They said why pay for all that power that you will never use? I say, I live in Los Angeles near Mulholland Drive so I get to use it every day!

I remember that time..around year 2000,there was a "bmw factory info",that there will not be M5 anymore and that 540i will be top model...also i remember one guy that bought black 540i and car was a blast..few months later BMW released M5 with 400 ps...and again i remember how that guy was pissed.
