Yet again another pointless drag race from CarWow .
In the standing start, the M5 clearly got the jump on the modded M3. Which makes the entire race inconclusive.

It's our Stage 1 ECU flash with stock cats but other bolt ons. They made me launch with no traction control and it was damp. That was the only way I could get away without being a smoke machine.
The roll race is more representative. Was no surprise to me as at that power level my M3 and my stock F90 had the same 60-130 times. |

Their lack of knowledge is evident with using that M3 Competition logo. Hopefully they got the logo from a bank of logos to be used for the G80 and didn't know any better, rather than photoshopping it on purpose.

The host is just some guy. Why do I care about what he says? He totally lost me when he was reviewing the NSX, which is a car he actually really liked. To the right of the center console l is a slot where the cup holder clips in. I know bc I own the car. He was like "I've had the car for a week and I have no idea what this does."
Ummm aren't you an auto journalist? (or pretending to be one.) look it up. Ask somebody. Call the dealer who lent it to you. He's a joke. And his races are so dumb. Let's race the car from a roll in its higher gear. NOBODY does that. I downshift all the time to the desired gear before flooring it. We want to know what the cars can deliver giving it their best, not the horseshit that channel puts out. I do like that one Arab dude on the channel though, his reactions are genuine and amusing |

I think he means he somehow manages to lose every single drag race when he’s driving a BMW. Especially with DCT cars, he does a smoky burnout start (by flooring the throttle 100% including the kickdown button) instead of using launch control w/ between 50-99% throttle that will give the quickest launches. This bugs me but I mostly blame BMW for not making it clear that there are two types of launch control. It’s somewhat natural to expect full throttle to deliver the best possible acceleration but that’s far from the case with DCT.

That's not possible. The throttle pedal needs to be fully depressed with the kickdown button engaged for launch control to be activated. As soon as the kickdown button is released, launch control is disengaged.
