Modifying Stock Exhaust
Instead of dropping 5 to 10 k on a whole new exhaust, can anyone speculate the impact of modifying the stock exhaust silencer, resonator, and/or baffles? Any experience with this?

Solid X Pipe instead of the resonator should make a big difference. Competition Exhaust is the resonator with less holes and makes a nice difference. No hole would be even more so.

Know anyone who has done this? Wondering about cost, feasibility of modifying these components, and finding a shop I trust to do it. And then, I don't know if there'd be any warranty issues or not.

No difference in normal driving, which I like since my wife doesn’t want it to be annoying. In Sport and Sport+ it’s much louder when you are really getting on it. Also the crackles and pops when you let off the throttle give the car a more beastly feel. I would do it again.

Using a shop with a mandrel bending machine and 304 stainless steel. I also think the pipes are different on the Sport exhaust not just the resonator which I deleted. I paid $1900 for the sport exhaust and $430 for the custom x pipe. The sound is a bit deeper at idle and much much louder at startup In efficient mode is about the same as stock from what I remember ( mine was stick for only 2 days) In sport plus you do hear the difference and with my sunroof open it’s night ab day. Really worth the $. |

I thought the competition exhaust is the same as the M sport, just cause the tune, makes it a bit louder.(not hardware)
Where as the M performance will be different totally. Am I wrong ? Edit: never mind just saw the other thread. |

Thanks for the insight. I'm very interested is seeing what I can do with my completely stock exhaust via modifications, including a non perforated xpipe and maybe removing the silencer all together. Could give a wicked sound for much cheaper than Akra or M performance, especially since my exhaust valves are fixed permanently open. Speaking of M performance exhaust, can these be ordered now? Not talking about M sport...
