Viewing Prior Service Records?

Any way I can get a hold of or at least view what the dealer has done to my car? Purchased with 32k miles. I'm aware of what the maintenance timeline is, but have zero proof of anything being done. I'm referencing spark plugs, drivetrain fluids, warranty work, etc. Not anything the onboard computer tracks. BMW flat out refuses to show me, due to laws or whatever.

I tried the same when I purchased mine, but the dealer wouldn't release.

Good luck!!

I asked my service advisor and he gave them to me - I guess it all depends on the dealership and/or the advisor.

You could also pay $32 for 24 hr access to ISTA. Then lookup the records with the VIN. I'm pretty sure this is exactly what the dealer would do. It's a bit kludgy because I think you have to download the software and set it up. But then you can print off some PDFs of instructions for whatever service items or repairs you might want to do in the future.

I've certainly thought about that, but considering you're unable to add maintenance actions, I'm skeptical if viewing prior jobs is possible. I'd love confirmation from someone.

I find it very hard to believe that the service advisor wouldn't release prior service records to the car. Maybe ask them to black out the previous owners personal info and that you only care about the work done to the car?

Man, if I ever sold my car, there would be 2x 3 inch binders on the passenger seat with EVERY service record and EVERY invoice and the mileage it was all performed at. I'm BEYOND detailed. I still have the window sticker and the laminated keychain from delievery day.

I am about to start a new 3" binder, the first one has already filled up with EVERY SINGLE record and invoice thus far. Well done sir

I should showcase my 2 binders.

1 for invoices that page one says “Jess (my wife), if you’ve opened this. Please close it. "

This binder is all invoices of parts receipts for everything ever ordered or installed on the car.

The 3 inch binder is everything else from date of purchase until now.

paperwork, window sticker, ALL service records, payments, EVERYTHING. Even that laminated tag that was on the keys when the car was delievered

Doesn't the car record any work completed on the car on the key?
I've pages and pages of output from a key read before now.
In the UK most any dealer will give you a print out of the contents of the key.
