I have a 23’ M5Cx with 12,000 miles on it and this past week noticed the engine is making this sound. I used to wrench on my E30 in college etc and pretty novice weekend mechanic but does anyone know what the hell this sound is? The engine not always makes the smooth runs when accelerating. Listen for a coarse ruffle or rattle when I accelerate. During driving and this was even after a long trip. Nothing to do with engine being warm.

I would take it to the dealership for a diagnosis. Does not sound good to me when you accelerate.

I feel like they are gonna laugh at me. Scheduled an appt. We will see. Hopefully it’s nothing

Yes sorry I usually post follow-up to these things, it had another noise totally resolved. This was an AC line was malpositoned rattling against chassis, they moved it. No issues for the last few months since. All went away!
