I've seen posts where people say that their car is 1 of 10 in the world or 1 of 2 etc. Is there a VIN decoder or some tool that's used to figure this out? Curious to get this information.

I have not found one for BMW. A guy on the TRX forum works for FCA and has been inputing vins to break it down. Was really interesting and showed by each option how rare your vehicle was. Mine ended up being a 1 of 1, and will stay that way because they combined two packages together and I only chose one of them.

Mine is 1 of 400, Launch Edition. Supposedly Canada got ~ 32. I asked BMW if there was a way of determining which was which. They replied that they hadn't kept those stats. Pity!

There was a way to figure out all of this stuff up until 2020 I think. Now it’s not possible it seems.

Well depending by what metric you go by its fairly easy to determine if your car is 1 of whatever lol. For example mine is 1 of 1 since I'm the only guy with a red interior in the m5, custom ordered. It's one of 3 that I know of in frozen orange (1 other pre lci in the usa and 1 lci in bulgaria) and its one of 2 US spec m5s not including cs that has laser lights (the other was my 2022) and the only us model with ambient air package ceramic controls and display key. If we're just talking about exterior color its harder to judge on the more prominent colors how many they actually made, and then there's so many combinations of options and port installed options that in theory most cars could be 1 of 1 if you take the totality of options into consideration.

Paid for it lol it's really that simple, have your dealer request the options you want. Took me 11 dealers before I found one willing ti work with me. Most if not all just look at the online configurator and then say sorry shits not available instead of actually trying. Here's window sticker for reference. So many other things I could've done that I found out about too late and kicking myself for it lol
