Same (although I'm 31). However I'm losing quite a bit in the front also which according to what I've read Rogaine will not help with. I just cut it short and fuck it. When it gets bad enough I'll shave it all off.

Wasnt Rogaine giving people heart attacks or something at some point? (may not be a factor at 22)

Actually topical minoxidil (Rogaine) does work in the front regions as well. The reason they can only claim that it works in the back is because: when the FDA trials were conducted for topical minoxidil, the mid, back regions of the scalp were the only places they tested it for efficacy. Therefore, they can only claim that it is effective for that region. However, the mechanism of the drug is the same irrespective of where it is applied on the scalp.

A known side effect of Minoxidil is heart palpitations and water retention, although heart attacks have not been reported from topical use of the drug.

( I used to be involved in this industry)

I am young not even 22 and I am losing hair from the crown/top. I started losing hair back in June or so I would say, now its gotten progressively worse. I have always had thin hair though, I have pictures from when I was 11-12 where my scalp was somewhat visible and when I would style my hair you would always see my scalp. However now I can see the crown thinning fast and its really getting me sad. I am losing more and more hair every time I brush it or I am in the shower, running my hands through my hair results in a few hair falling out. I don't like touching my hair because I dread seeing more hair fall out.

I think it might be due to smoking as well. I started smoking heavily last year and have noticed now in the cold weather my hands are always frozen cold no matter what I do. Smoking causes blood flow to cease flowing properly so I figure if its affecting my hands, blood flow to the hair follicles must also be minimal which is accelerating the thinning of the hair. I am in the process of slowing down but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Anyway any of you guys use Rogaine? I bought a 6 month supply but I am scared of starting. Its a lifetime commitment and I am also worried about the shed. People say they shed so much hair that it looks 40% worse after started Rogaine. Others say it works great. I am really confused what do you guys think? Anyone use this ?

I would recommend that you give generic 5% Minoxidil a shot (brand named rogaine), you can apply it twice daily at a 5% strength. You can also ask your Dermatologist about a prescription to Finasteride 1mg. Although you should be aware that this drug can cause sexual side effects, and some men have reported permanent side effects from this drug, but this is rare. The aforementioned are the only FDA approved treatments for hair loss. Good luck!

If going bald really bothers you, start saving for a hair transplant. Going bald at your age, no amount of rogaine is going to squash that. Or you can just shave your head clean. Some guys still look good with that. And some chicks dig it. It tells them you've got the balls to go bald and still have confidence

I used Rogain on and off for sometime. It does actually work. But It made my hair look pretty frizzy, which I can compensate by some hair oil but I just

  • Remember it itches badly for first few days. Just don't scratch it or you might damage healthy hair follicle.
  • Keep a short-medium hair cut. As the longer your hair the more pull it experiences and if not holding strong enough it falls.
  • Key nutrients are main. make sure you have enough iron intake with your food and lot of vegetables.

I cut rogain and adopted healthy eating, now I don't have much hairfall. I also took these capsules when off the rogain and it actually helped. Your milege may vary. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046MDK32/

Minoxidil 5% foam from amazon. I use the generic and apply it like mouse to style my hair. The stuff works. But once you start, you must continue to use it forever.

It stops hair from falling as well as regrowth. Once in morning and once at night. And wash with a good shampoo. I use nioxin #2. I definitely see the difference. I refuse to start using that propecia stuff.

Please read!

My father had somewhat thin hair. My mother has a full thick hair. I have 4 siblings. They all have thick hair. During my younger years, i've always had really thick hair.
My hair was my life, girls will always come to me and play with my hair, it gave me a high self confidence.

When i was 24yrs i noticed my hair thinning, i was shattered and devastated. It sucked so much, i was all sad. Im 24/25yrs but i look like a 50yr old man.

I never ever tried any supplements. Please stay away from Rogaine or any other hair growing substance. You will regret it.

They may help your hair grow temporarily but once you stop using them, your hair will bald even more.

I'm 30 now and i have my hair, not as thick as my High school/College days but, i dont' look old and bald anymore.

All i did was get better sleep. I tried all kinds of shit that people say online like, stop masturbating, eat this food eat that food. All i did was get better sleep each night.

I reduced the stress in my life, i make more money now and a few things started going well for me which caused me to start getting better sleep. I noticed each time i slept good for 3/4 days my hair will thicken slightly.

Get good sleep, stop staying up late at night to porn, reduce alcohol, sleep like a baby, snore, you should wake up with drool to indicate that you got some good sleep.

And for Christ sake don't ever do any transplant. It looks horrible. People can notice. When people notice you have fake hair, they quickly loose respect for you, because it shows just how low and sad your self esteem is. If you were confident and had a high self esteem, you should shave it and move on or at lease cut it very low.

I got a haircut today and my hair looks much better. I didn't even go remotely close to a buzz cut and its so much better. My barber who has been cutting my hair for 6 years now said my hair has just thinned slightly and told me my hair had always been thin. Said I probably have a good 5-6 years before it starts getting real noticeable and that's fine for me.

It could possibly be sleep, I barely get any good sleep. My sleep varies from 3-4 hours one night to 11 hours to 2 hours to none. Some weeks I get 20 hours sleep total. I shall give that a try as well.

Anyway I am not starting the rogaine. I have heard so many negative stories about it not working properly, causing massive shedding, etc, etc, not going to risk that.

No experience with rogain but I have experience with smoking. I recently quit with the help of a vape. Its seriously amazing. I started with 24mg of nicotine now I am down to 6mg. Next step is 3mg then 0mg. They taste amazing, give good nicotine buz, and are worlds better than ciggerettes. I cant think of one instance where a ciggerette is superior. I currently have Vision spinner battery with a protank and its amazing. If you are looking into this make sure to get a quality vape and you will never want to smoke a cig again.

I don't get into work till 10am and I'm usually in bed by 12. I get at least 8-9 hours sleep during the week and never feel sleepy. So sleep is not an issue for me yet I'm still losing hair. I do not smoke cigarettes though I do smoke maybe 2 cigars a week. However I started losing the hair even before I started smoking cigars.

My uncle is actually a health freak and doesn't smoke or any of that and he's been bald since his 20s. I do agree that short haircuts definitely look better when you are losing hair. I will probably just start going shorter and shorter as it gets worse. Although I am practically married so picking up chicks is not really a concern for me. If it was I may consider hair transplant or going full shave if you got the head for it.

Man the needing more sleep is hitting the spot.. Same problem.

Lots of stress on my job, and I'm a tech junky so I usually stay up till 2 or 3 am fiddling with stuff, only to get up at 8.

After 2 years of this I developed sebborheic dermatitis in my face and scalp, which you don't notice when i treat it but it I only noticed it after about 6 months of scratching my head and there is a bald spot there always had longer hair so it's definitely in my thoughts all the time...

Went on vacation for a month in the summer, no stress, loads of sleep and I could see it growing back noticeably. 2 weeks back in the old routine and it immediately started again

Yes definitely. I noticed my top regrowing when i started getting good sleep. Notice how i keep using the term "Good sleep".
If you get regular sleep even if you slept for 8 hours, it won't grow. You have to get that deep-knockout -loud snoring sleep.

Stress definitely plays a role, but if you're genetically predisposed to hair loss, even hair transplantation won't help you.
How can you possibly regrow your hair if there is no follicles on your scalp?
