So I just saw the new Mission Impossible movie and it was great! I think there's an unbadged F90 M5 in one of the centerpiece car chases. Did anyone else notice this? Also, there are many other BMW cars and motorcycles highlighted in the film.

I didn’t see the movie, but the trailer showed what looked like a pre-LCI in BSM (and without doors!) when I saw it a few months ago.

They’re always at least a new 5 series and the bad guys have older versions lol. Like only bad guys buy used I guess.

The previous movie had the F90 in it. The new one was filmed years ago and delayed because of Covid. That's why it doesn't have an LCI version, they weren't out yet!

The movie is lazy; they use a pre lci base and pre lci comp interchangeably.

Edit: I watched the movie today and it is actually a lot worse than I recall. They start off the chasing showing a base pre-LCI 5 series. Then for part of the chase they switch to an LCI base version. In some interior shots, you can tell it is a M5 based on the gear shifter. Just bizarre, and like I said, just flat out lazy on the part of the Film.

Yes, this makes complete sense. Look for the pre-LCI F90 M5 when you see the movie.

They chose the better looking version clearly. Something that looks like a bmw and not a VW. Haha 😬

Listen I understand looks are subjective but ugly?!? Maybe they aren’t as classic bmw as pre-LCI but they are in no way shape or form ugly. All I’ve ever heard about the LCI m5 is the word elegant and that’s from a shit ton of people on the forums and even more in person. Pre and LCI are both great but I definitely wouldn’t say one is ugly. That’s not even subjective. Come on now

+1 — Having had both, I personally like the updated look of the LCI over the pre-LCI, even if it’s not traditional BMWesque. But I adored the pre-LCI when I had it (and still do). Agreed that this just comes down to personal preference. I personally think the LCI front end is the most beautiful modern BMW front end, but hey, to each their own.

Hard to dispute the tail lights on the LCI much better. To me the front of the pre-lci slightly edges out the LCI in terms of aggressive-ness but of course all subjective.

I do much prefer the pre-lci, or at least 18-19, gauge cluster, I prefer the round gauge graphics.

But, with that said.... Theyre both awesome.

Well said about the LCI tails. They really are special in person. Photos, even illuminated ones, don’t do them justice.

But the pre-LCI heads scream BMW — classic.

My Pre-LCI has iDrive 7 with the Digital Cockpit, by choice, love it so much.

I like the digital cockpit in the LCI in that I appreciate the newer tech, and it feels a bit more modern. The round gauge aesthetics just allow in a little nostalgia in an otherwise modern car on the pre-LCI.

Not talking out of both sides of my mouth here — I like the look of the pre-LCI, and I like the function of the LCI. But we were talking about aesthetics.

I’ve enjoyed both in different ways. Pre-LCI feels more M, LCI feels more BMW.

Pre or post…I think we can all be thankful bmw hasn’t gone completely mad and given her a pig nose (cough cough G80) or split head light design like a Hyundai (cough cough 7/ X7).

Everyone is missing the biggest problem between Pre & Post LCI.

The headlights. Pre’s are so much better (fully adaptive). I hate my post LCI headlights while driving at night.

(USA Models only, if I recall are different. Has to do with DOT certification).

Saw the movie yesterday, they’re using pre LCI and LCI M5’s in it. I don’t recall how many they got through, to make the film, but it was quite a few.

You guys realize you are arguing over the beauty of a circle vs L shaped headlights right? That's about all the difference there is on the front end. How that makes one that much more "beautiful" or "ugly" is beyond me

I don't understand why they removed the words "BMW" from the blue and white roundel, and covered up the illuminated "M5" on the headrests... I'd think BMW would happily pay to have them shown in the movie. The fact that an M5 was used in the two most recent MI movies shows someone over there has a thing for BMWs and M5s in particular.
