easy sun protection option

I've been always parking my car outdoors w/o issue. However since I relocated to Cali I'm not sure if the sun here would be a problem(don't want the new $100k car to age too quickly). My garage is not usable so I have to park in front of the garage.

Is there any recommendation on some easy car cover that I can use daily? Maybe just some big cloth? I drive the car daily so I need sth that's easy to take on and off. The usual car covers found online are usually very fit and tight which take time to put on. Also I don't wash my car too often so I guess normal car cover would scratch the paint easily.

btw I ordered the Brooklyn Grey so maybe won't be that bad?

if you arent washing your car often any cover that touches the car will scratch and mar the paint. you will have less damage from the sun.
dirt on the paint and putting a cover on will be like sandpaper any time you take the cover on or off or the wind blows wherever the cover is in contact with the paint.

tint is your friend.

any car cover is going to scratch your car mercilessly unless you pour over it with either a fresh wash, or minimally a lot of quick detailer before throwing it on--and the latter only applies if you washed it the day before.

Yup I would do Ceramic Coating. I'm more prone to have it professionally applied with a long warranty. But honestly if you don't want to pay that much, sure look into doing it yourself or just wax the car. A good wax will help protect it too.

op, even with a ceramic coat, DO NOT USE A CAR COVER.

unless the car is absolutely clean, it will damage the paint far more than the sun will.

does the coating protect the paint from the sun in particular. my understanding is the coating is used for scratch protection?

Yes, ceramic coating will absolutely help against UV rays. I would definitely look into it.

i think you are missing a big way to keep the paint in good shape:
You can substantially lengthen the amount of time you have before your vehicle gets damaged by the sun simply by washing your vehicle regularly and removing contaminants in a timely manner.

Oh so what you mean is I should be more concerned with contaminants/dirts than sun burn?

well, lets think about this....
the sun will fade your paint. your car is already pretty light, so its not going to do much.
contaminants and dirt will abrade the paint and make it weather faster.

pretty sure the dirt and stuff sitting on the paint is going to do more harm than the sun. the paint is designed to withstand UV. a big part of that protection is the clearcoat.
the clearcoat gets damaged, bye bye protection.
