Used 2020 X7 M50i price advise
I am thinking of buying a 2020 X7 M50i from a BMW dealer.
The price I offered is 88K (negotiating down from 94K asking price). Is this a good price for me to take the vehicle "if accepted:? I am not an expert in the used BMW market value. It is a 2020 X7 M50i, with 25K miles, fully loaded, with the following option SECOND-ROW CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS $3,400 BOWERS & WILKINS DIAMOND SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM COLD WEATHER PACKAGE $1,200 5-Zone Automatic Climate Control, Front & Rear Heated Seats, Heated Front Seats Armrests & Steering Wheel DRIVING ASSISTANCE PROFESSIONAL PACKAGE $1,700 EXECUTIVE PACKAGE $1,300 Heated & Cooled Cup Holders, Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof, Glass Controls LUXURY SEATING PACKAGE $1,200 Front Ventilated Seats, Front Massaging Seats 5-ZONE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL, FRONT & REAR HEATED SEATS, HEATED FRONT SEATS ARMRESTS & STEERING WHEEL COLD WEATHER PACKAGE ACC W/STOP AND GO, ACTIVE LANE KEEPING ASSISTANT, STEERING AND TRAFFIC JAM ASSISTANT, AUTOMATIC LANE HEATED & COOLED CUP HOLDERS, PANORAMIC SKY LOUNGE LED ROOF, GLASS CONTROLS EXECUTIVE PACKAGE |

You didn't specify how many miles it has.
That being said, you can get a similarly equipped new x40i for the same price. Or the 60i for about $15k more. I'd probably do that if you can wait on the build. |

Brand new, it's about 125k after tax. So for a 2years old car with expected milage, for 40k less..... If it's 88K OTD, good, otherwise, it's expected for the time. 80K is better. You can't even get the B&W currently. And the V8 vs I6 is not even comparable. |

Instead, I am about to get a 2019 X7 xDrive50i with ~35K miles for 75K with same exact specs above with the addition of higher end leather ($3700) and the dynamic handling drive package which both were missing in the 2020 model i originally referenced in my first post. Along with the deal I was offered a 4-year bumper to bumper BMW warranty up to 100K miles for $3500 after negotiations.
Should I accept the deal? Sounds like a good deal at that price yet with the v8 engine and fully loaded optioned 2019 X7 xdrive50i. The other dealer is asking $90K for the 2020 M50i |

As a data point: I just sold my 2021 X7 M50i (every option, with 8,200 miles) as an in-and-out sale at the dealer for $100K (before sales tax credit). Sticker was originally $118K, but I bought it for $110.5K (before TT&L) about a year and a half ago.

There are some differences between the 50i and M50i. I recall people complaining about the Driver's assistance, as it is also different between MY2020 and MY2019. The M50i comes with real "M" badging(not a big deal, but some peeps end up changing the badge later). And the biggest difference is the motor. I believe the MY2020 was the sweet spot for the X7s. MY2019 was the guinea pig year(used to test out many flaws and then patched for MY2020). 2021+ started having supply chain issues.
On a different note, the DH package is always a plus to have. |

The difference between the engine equipped on the 2019 vs the 2020 is not a big deal for me as both of the have the V8 engine and have adequate power (at least on step over the V6).
I am interested to know more about your comment regarding the drive assistant for MY19 vs MY20? I believe they are exactly the same hardware, and both are getting the same OTA updates. What is the difference? Do you have a reference or posts of people talking about it? I believe it is only related to the driving assist viewer (3D of cars around you) which you can unlock anyway using Bimmercoder for the MY19 as it was locked until the visual-viewer feature using a software was not ready until around sept 2019 (so the hardware is already there and the same and they both function the same way). Am I missing anything? |

This was a huge issue for those of us that bought a 2019 G05 X5. The iDrive 7 updates and features we were promised eventually dried up as the 2020 model year got a completely new iDrive 7 hardware update. That left us 2019 owners already outdated in the first year of ownership with limited firmware updates in 2020. This is well documented on the forum and there about 4 of us forum members that were the first beta testers for the iDrive 7 working with BMW all the time with correcting constant firmware updates that seem to be released every other week in 2019.
The easiest solution for me was to update vehicles in 2020 and trade out the 2019. I will never-ever buy a first year model from BMW again. I always use the 3D view. It’s a game changer for me on long trips as I get a quick visual of traffic around me. Here is a quick pick from our last road trip. Look at how accurate it plots the vehicles on the screen in reference to where they actually are on the road. I have tested this with multiple sized vehicles in congested road conditions and it is amazing how accurate it continues to plot every vehicle around the BMW. I have mine set up to do this with or without cruise control on. Last edited by MystroX5; 07-19-2022 at 08:30 AM.. |

So, I am not sure if your assessment with regards to the 2019 as of today. I don't think there is any difference between the two from a hardware driving assistant point of view (they steer the same way, and with Bimmercode, you can unlock that 3D view you mentioned). |

Yes, I was VERY nervous about that aspect actually. I was super happy when I unlocked the drive assist viewer, because dealer would not allow me to test that before I bought the vehicle :P ... .so I had to gamble on the fact that it works and drives with it the same way.
I guess it took until late 2020 until BMW start to support 2019 X7s, which is a shame, though it is okay for now for pre-owned 2019 X7s. |

BMW has been very spotty with delivering smooth new features In firmware updates. The G05 was really the test mule of the iDrive 7 and with every firmware update to fix something, it would screw up 3 other items. BMW uses their customers as beta testers and the new iDrive 8 will be the same. I’m a tech oriented person and really worked with BMW but other customers were so furious they were constantly visiting their service department. |

Question to everyone:
Is an extended warranty with Veritas for 50K miles, 4-year, plan with a limit of 10K per visit and 20K across the entire duration, for $4200 USD is a good deal? Another offer I have is directly through BMW, no limits on services, but covers power train ONLY, for 4 years an additional 40k miles from today for $3500. |
