CarPlay hiccup - anyone else?

Morning everyone,

As of yesterday- a most frustrating issue has occurred with my CarPlay settings.

My mobile WiFi is connected. No issue there. However my Bluetooth does not automatically connect- and when I go to manually connect it, it drops off within 30 seconds every time.

Next issue- I’m stuck on this screen where one can select which CarPlay option works for them. (See picture below) the maps won’t load and the music “art” won’t load on the screen.

HOWEVER- the music from my phone still plays over the speakers of the car. It’s like it’s almost stuck from completely loading

What I’ve done so far:
- reset network settings twice on phone
(iPhone 15pro / Verizon)
- “forgot device” from iPhone for the car
- removed device from the car menu

I know it seems minimal- but damn is it annoying as I use my CarPlay ALWAYS

Anyone encounter anything similar that can offer a solution before I have to have the service center remote reset everything?

I'm wondering if you automatically updated to iOS 17.5. I've not yet driven mine but will this afternoon. I immediately started having issues with other apps after updating, though.

I'm having this issue pretty much daily now. CarPlay starts up fine on the first drive. However, when I get back in the car it will auto play the song it was on, but no album art and no CarPlay. Shit is ANNOYING. You can't even skip to the next song. I end up holding the volume button down for what seems like 30-45 seconds to reset iDrive and it works like normal again.

I didn’t want to come in here with “first world problems” but I am beyond frustrated with it. My tech at the service center told me that it’s 1.5 hours to reset

Explain this volume button reset that you do?

If it's not connecting to CarPlay as it normally would, hold down the volume knob for what feels like an eternity without letting up. I promise it will eventually hard reset the iDrive system. The screen will go black and once it resets, it should reconnect.

I’ve been having this issue this week too. I thought maybe it wasn’t working bc I hadn’t installed iOS 7.5. Updated my phone last night and still not working.

I’ll try this iDrive reset and see what happens.

Any time iDrive or CarPlay acts up — it’s time to reset iDrive by holding down the volume button as mentioned. This fixes it all for me. I’ll eventually get in some state where CarPlay doesn’t load or I can’t get Waze up. Reboot time!

Funny you mention that. My car started having issues on Monday where I would have to restart my phone for it to connect to the car. Maybe it was a phone and not a car issue. It seems to have resolved itself today.

Good to know about the volume button reset. I'll try that next time.

Glad that helped! There's got to be some recent update on Apple's end that screwed things up. I feel like this has been an issue for a couple months now, does that seem accurate?
