Installed my TRE AutoID M2C mirror clones.
Much improved IMO, especially for the money.
Fitment isn't 100% OEM, call it 98%, and the color, although spot-on, seems just a touch lighter (not that anyone but the truly OCD would notice). But again, for the money, I love them. Install took 1.5 hours taking my time, and went without a hitch. UPDATE: OK, so my install that went without a hitch resulted in a few fitment issues. Jack from AutoID sent me a video via email that really helped a lot, but I'd like to add a few things to this post for those installing. First, check fitment of the pieces before you install them, my driver's side fit fantastic, but the passenger's side, even when fitted perfectly, doesn't fit as well. Basically it's a manufacturing defect. Second, make sure all your holes line up, don't force anything. One of the hole tabs on the AutoID base needed to be shaved to fit perfectly within the stock area, and without that trimming, the fitment would not be perfect. Lastly, when fitting the cap, I DO NOT recommend that you do it the way the video shows. I had the best luck by fitting the bottom tab, and holding it there, while I Lightly bent the rest of the cap around the sides and middle. There are distinct edges that need to line up, so take your time with this part. I'll include the video that Jack sent me in this post. Last edited by VisualEcho; 07-25-2020 at 01:56 PM.. |

Odd that the price varies by the paint color (£166.62 vs £262.45).
I went with the IND versions of the AutoTecknic Version III (which look identical to the AutoID) because I preferred them to be painted by IND. They really look excellent and I felt they had a big impact on the appearance of the car. |

I don't buy from IND if I can help it, they're just so damn expensive. And I agree, huge impact on appearance IMO, should have been my first mod. |

They look identical to me in all available pictures.
IND said Autotechnic and AutoID "are made in the same facility from our understanding" in https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=10 |

Looking sweet there Echo!
Would be complete if you had the blacked out indicator light.

I'm going to take a stab and say it's a front lip

Looks great OP! I've been debating between Auto ID and AutoTecknic 3pc mirrors as well. Did the package from Auto ID incur any duties? I have an address in NY, Auto ID did warn me that duties could be a problem if shipped directly to me in Toronto Canada.
I also figured with IND, if the fitment is subpar, maybe they'd do me the honour of a full refund? I figured they should have good customer service to make up for their pricing. Them being state side also makes this easier. |

I wish. Waiting for a used Perl for that (buying new from them is almost impossible).

I got a pretty good deal from Jack at AutoID, in trade for some photography, which I do regularly for companies, so I can't complain about the price. The fitment on the driver's side is perfect, but the passenger's side has a bit more of a gap between the cap and bottom right where the indicator meets the two, so Jack sent me a video to go over how they should be fitted. I watched a video to fit them, but maybe I did something wrong. |

makes the car look proper. AutoID the ones to go as natural curve not like the weird other angles on some.
Just get goldwrench tint, I had light tint but going to replace with darker just haven't got round to it. My paint match is exact. Indicator is out by 0.75-1mm though |

Apparently there is a tab just underneath that part that I may not have gotten installed properly, so I'm looking at that today.

Absolutely. I watched I don't know how many videos that said nothing about this tab, so I just shoved the cap on. Thankfully, Jack from AutoID sent me a video detailing everything, and it's all squared away now.
