I changed mine as preventative maintenance and also took some proactive steps to reduce stress on the tank by reducing radiant heat and coolant temperatures. Doubt I have solved the problem and am looking forward to an improved tank.
I’ve been around BMW long enough to remember e46 and e85 z4 expansion tank cracking… let me put it this way. It’s always cooling system. Always. How hard is it to figure out for the brand that’s been around for that long ? Or maybe they don’t want to ? The only reason they’re doing something about it is that it can grenade engines before warranty runs out.
Edit
And this is very bad for cust… shareholders.

I had my service done today, and mentioned the recall to my SA who said he was aware of it, but no remedy has been released by BMW. My coolant was low (again) and it was pressure tested (again) and found to have no leaks.

Same here .. service performed today .. no fix available.

Luckily, no leaks or low coolant issues to date; I check for any signs every couple of weeks.

Same with mine too- found small leaks, so called SA, but no official recall notice as of yet for the fix.

I wouldn’t leave this case just like that. Cooling is completely sealed system and this fluid being low always indicates issue. They have to find solution to the problem. If pressure test doesn’t indicate anything coolant is most likely burned during combustion process or charge coolers are leaking internally.

Had service yesterday as well. Dealer (BMW of Nashville), aware of recall, no remedy (parts) available at this time. Tested tank and all good. 32k miles on car, original tank.

Took my car in for service yesterday and the dealer proactively told me about the recall and changed the tank for me. I am in AUS by the way. Here is the screenshot they provided me of the recall notice/ instructions to them from BMW. My tank was fine but they still changed it as my VIN number was within the range. 2022 build.

Based on this they are replacing the coolant tank with the same part but a new one?!? I am planning to get this clarified with them on Monday.
