and no it will not be covered by warranty, leather isnt covered. unless you have an SA willing to go the extra mile for you to get it fixed but other than that it will not be covered. :/

Edit: Also, how often do you treat the leather? I do mine every 6mos with cleaning every now and then to keep it looking like new and it works.

Thanks for the insight. I don't treat the leather. Strange this is the only area affected. We also have an older Mercedes where it's leather just recently started to show age (in about the last 5 years), but we also have a Range Rover and Lexus that are both at least double the age of the BMW with at least 100k miles on each, which have no leather deterioration. I understand this on a 15+ year old car, but not on a 2+ year old car...
