My OEM carpeted mats are still in the box, and that's where there'll probably stay for life. They're just too cheesy, but they were free, so what do we want? Probably would go with a bavauto if I cared that much.
But I can relate to the OP. Coming from a Japanese car, the OEM mats were thicker and did not slide, and there was a hole with a grommet-like thingy and a plastic pin holding it in place. That's a car that cost 1/3 the price. So, if BMW wanted to improve it, they could.....not a deal-breaker...
