That sucks, sounds like few extra screws at the tip of the lip are necessary for a truly secure mounting. But many people do not want to do that, as they don't want any extra holes in the bumper, even if it's underneath.
It's not a pleasant situation, but I don't think autoteknik owes you a replacement lip in this situation. Maybe out of pity they will offer like 5-10% off a new one, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that
