Funny enough when the first Fast And The Furious came out, I thought it was garbage. As someone who witnessed the LA Import car scene in the late 90's that the film portrays, it was comically ridiculous and exaggerated beyond credibility. Not much has changed, but at least it's not trying to be realistic. Not that it's an excuse to be bad, but as a car enthusiast, at least it was something related to car culture and "racing".

I really hope Ford V Ferrari will start a trend of good car movies as the FnF series is too silly to scratch that itch. Rush certainly helped. Recently watching Ronin again reminded me how good car chase scenes can be without CGI and without being grounded in motorsport.

In the meantime, there are many other better movies to watch besides FnF with cool car chases/races:

Bullitt
Le Mans
Gone in 60 Seconds (The original)
The Matrix Reloaded
The Transporter 1
Baby Driver
Death Proof
Bad Boys 2
Drive
Days Of Thunder
Road Warrior
Mad Max Fury Road
Rush
Ronin
Ford V Ferrari
John Wick
