Not much talk around about the F80 and F82 Lithium Ion battery used instead of the now regular AGM battery.

Interestingly the battery has built in electronic controls, so things like the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) is a thing of the past.

The battery plugs int the cars LIN BUS so the systems can monitor it.

50% weight saving over AGM

Thoughts ?

EDIT:
One major drawback is one cannot use regular car battery chargers, since they charge above 14V, which will damage the Li-Ion battery.
Hope dealer remember this when going in for a service and they hook up a charger for the diagnostics
