Break in "service"?! I've never heard or experienced that before, on any make or model. That something new to this M5??

My E92 M3 has 1200 mi service— changed most fluids. Big debate for breaking in the Porsche GT engines— manual says 2000 miles under 4000rpm but dealer and mechanic said it's hogwash— these performance engines have already been tested before placed in the car— true for M cars also. BUT I would say there are parts and pieces closely associated with the engine that need that period to marry to the engine.
