Some people say wax the rims. Seems that would take about 100 times longer to do than cleaning them. German brakes are notorious for lots of dust. I clean mine with Simple Green - spray onto wet wheel full strength and clean with a brush. Works great and isn't some nasty acid or chemical. Great for the tires too.
