No, dyno pulls in manual trans cars are done in 4th or 5th. Which ever gear is 1 to 1.

One of the reasons that you don't want to use the top gear is that you want to be able to run the entire rpm range. In the highest gears you may hit the speed limiter before you get to the red line or the car may just run out power to spin the rollers and never reach red line that way. Using 1 to 1 also allows runs to be more comparable to other cars.

Also most of the dyno guys I know prefer not to spin the dyno's drums faster that 130 mph due to safety and wear and tear on the equipment.

Automatic trans are trickier because you can't completely control them and when they may kick down a gear when you press on the throttle.
