I was watching some videos on the older M5, and the V8 ones had a Drain Plug on the Filter Housing while the V10 model did not. It appears the 2018 M5 point filter housing does NOT have a drain plug on it so when you remove that cover to change the filter it is going to be a MESS.
I was actually hoping the oil filter was on the TOP of the engine like it was on my '97 M3 and '94 325is. (an M2 if I recall, never changed the oil on the M2).
Anyone do an oil change on their M5 yet?

Yes, you are correct - it does not have a drain plug on the filter - it sucks. I DYI it also between the recommend oil changes.
And personally I would never take it to the dealer but they told me I should to maintain the warranty, in case if something ever happens.
Side note : it take 8.5 litres of oil, then start drive check level, with the bullshit 30 mins sensor and top up slightly if needed.
I use redline 0W-30.
