Once you spec a car at the dealer, all dealers I've dealt with require some deposit; the amount vary usually from $1500-$2500. The car then will have status, priority-1 sold vehicle, meaning it's spoken for. If dealer requires no deposit, either that dealer has no allocation or playing game .....when car arrives it can be sold to someone willing to pay more etc, it happened.
as far as price MSRP is the going rate though I thought there was a dealer in no-man's-land South Dakota for $2k below MSRP
