Just picked up my 2021 M5 Comp today. After following this forum and having dealer install my V1 gen2 was curious to see what issues I had. The laser would keep going off as described I assume from gesture control. Turned gesture control off but problem continued. Turned off rear laser on Valentine 1 gen 2 and no problems since. Not sure if it matters, but my radar unit is at the top of the windshield just to the right of the rear view mirror. Unit working fine now, just need to test it with the cruise control. |
I would not recommend turning off any laser on the unit just in case. I ended up having to cover the gesture control camera with a small piece of tape. Even with the gesture control off it still uses laser. You can see the laser illuminated on the sensor if you view it through your phone camera. I covered mine up and have never had an issue since. I'd rather have the safety of the radar detector than gesture control
