Wouldn't ceramic coating be way cheaper option to combat that problem?

Also, wouldn't it be a problem when you go to remove xpel film? Especially if it is water based paint
Would be cheaper, but def not as effective. PPF has hydrophobic properties as well as protection from the elements, rocks, birdshit, etc.

Ceramic is good but I doubt that a coating would be better in protection than a mils thick self healing plastic coating. You can watch the videos of dudes dragging car panels on the ground with PPF, revealing later the paint is fine and idk if you can do that with ceramic.

Ceramic also wears off, needing new applications every year (?) or so, and to the guys saying it binds with the paint, I'm pretty sure the older/cheaper stuff is a lot more ability-limited than the new tech companies like XPEL,suntek or STEK. I think that's also the case if you plan to keep your cars for a long time (10yrs+) you should prob change out the PPF every so often anyway if you're holding for that long. I don't think the self healing will work forever.
