IIRC however if its left unplugged when the car is in for service and an attempt is made to update the software then I believe the update will fail with an error (that may confuse the tech).
So I plug mine back in when a service is due just to be on the safe side.
Even this inconvenience doesn't stop me from unplugging it the moment I get home...I find the fake noise too annoying.
