Not really an oversight since they made this change intentionally between model year 2008 and 2009 for multiple models (I'm know they did this for E82 and E92, not sure what other models).
IIRC, some really early build date 2009s (i.e. 12/2008 build date), still had the keyhole, but it was gone from everything built in 2009 (at least for E82). |
So... not an oversight just intentional stupidity? Either way it's a daft design choice and the fact they haven't rectified it is strange. Maybe this feature was always supposed to be standard but some bean counter decided to make it optional and hence the problem we now face.
