Well if we went manual vs manual, there is a big difference in the engine.
The N52 rated at 230 hp and 200 torque. Dynos have shown 200 hp and 170 torque
The N20 rated at 240 hp and dynos have shown if is making around there.
BMW recently had been super under rating their engines.
Not only that, but the newer engine is much torquier
Automatic vs automatic, the new ZF 8 speed shifts lightning fast compared to the GM 6 that is in my 128i, so no surprise there.
Also, I believe the 2014 autos now all have launch control, something that the previous car did not
