On this site it was noted somewhere that the 228i will use the same 240hp engine which is now in the 4 series. I believe I also read here that the 10hp comes from an added software package.

The 428i with the 240hp twin turbo, with 8 speed Sport automatic trans. does the 0-60 in 5.7 sec. The 428i weighs 3470lbs.

In contrast the 230hp - 128i does 0-60 in 6.7 sec. using the 6 speed steptronic auto trans, weighing in at 3285 lbs.

Assuming the 228i will weigh closer to 3285 than to 3470, this ll it is trending positive. In fact, 1 second seems like a huge difference in the heavier car with only a 10 hp difference -- maybe the 8 speed auto trans is a game changer??? For the time being it is comparing apples to oranges, i.e, will have to wait for 2 series specs.

BTW I'd really prefer the M235i but I doubt all - season tires will be available and I'm done with snowtires, so seriously considering 228i.
