Yeah, my insurance is looking at the car early this week and then it's 20 days for the engine to get here from Germany and one week install. Just hope they know what they are doing! |
So my insurance is covering the new engine, cooler and all related parts. Now have to wait for engine to come in from Germany. Parts and Labor $55k.
Also spoke to shop foreman today at my dealer. If you get the red light saying oil pressure low it is not a drill! It takes only 2 mins for the oil to drain from the cooler. Very very fast and the engine will seize right away.
You have to treat it as an accident. Stop wherever you are even if you have to block traffic.
Engine oil cooler is designed to be low to ground and flat against floor so that flat surfaces like driveways or the ground dont damage it. However any sharp items go through it like a hot knife through butter. Just a warning to everyone on this board.
