Would you mind sharing more details of how to remove it with screw driver and needle-nose pliers? It seems that there is no screws on the pad-like item that connects the visor and the headline other than a small tap. Did you force the visor out by the plier?

You'll want to insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot in order to open the plastic cover (see photo), and once that cover is open you'll see where you'll be able to use needle nose pliers to squeeze the 2 clips together. Once you squeeze the clips together the visor will come down, and then you'll need to disconnect the wire clip that provides power to the mirror lights.
