I have driven 185000 km with my e46 so far (it's almost 7 years old and was bought new). There is always some breakdust on the wheels after breaking. IMO that hasn't got anything to do with the BMW e46. Moreover, I only clean the wheels once every 4 weeks or it sometimes takes 8 weeks. I only clean the wheels with water and sometimes a little bit of wash & shine or a little bit of Turtle Wax. And I must say, they still look like new wheels. So your problem doesn't sound familiar to me!
