On the german forums THE best oil to use was the Mobile 1 New Life 0W-40.

Since they changed the list of additives and composition they lost a lot of customers (at least from the BMW forums) which right now are either using the Motul 8100 X-max 0W-40 or the new kid in town, the RAVENOL SSL 0W-40 which apparently now has great characteristics since they changed the composition for the better.

But the selection gets pretty small due to LL-04 specifications.
