I had my RS7 P-which came with CCs--for perhaps 25,000 miles. I tracked it twice. I've had my M5 C for ~12,000 miles--it has steel (strike that, I'm told it's...) cast iron brakes. I've tracked it once so far.
RS7:
- there was no fade whatsoever
- in the morning until they were warm, it felt like your brakes had failed completely
... they soon warm up, though (2 minutes perhaps)
- on the second track adventure, the brakes melted the face off of my wheels (no exaggeration here)
... the gun metal covering began to fracture, crack and peel
- I never had to replace them (hallelujah) so they lasted well
- rarely squealed; hard braking eliminated it
- while racing the car, toward the end, I experienced the CC-brake equivalent of range anxiety worrying if I was pushing them hard enough to wear them out and then looking at a F#CK!NG insane replacement bill
M5C:
- no perceivable fade at the track
- great in all conditions and temps so far
- they squeal like Babe in a bacon factory
- hard braking eliminates the piglet impression for maybe a few days
- brake dust makes my wheels look better; it's ever-present so far
- I gave my brakes precisely zero-thought at the track
My choice? I'd take the stee...cast iro... feck it, non-CC-brakes since I've found no substantial benefit to the CCs even with track day events.
