I've driven a 1-series with that 'feature', and I completely fail to see the benefit of a start button. It's a hassle, forcing you to insert a key, then push a button, instead of accomplishing everything with one key action.
I'd pay to not have the feature. Fortunately, that was not necessary with the Z. :P
