If you want a BMW warranty, I would reach out to the F&I department of your local dealer, they should be able to help. I would also call a few dealers in the area to compare pricing as it is negotiable. The only stipulation is that you have to be able to go there in person with the car.

That said, from what I have read 3rd party warranties are significantly cheaper, but you need to check the T&Cs carefully. Lastly, some insurance companies (Geico for one) offer mechanical breakdown insurance as a part of their policy.

The G80 is probably 2 years away (or so), and you have coverage for 1 of those years. You could also roll the dice if you're sure you're going G80. Plus you can wait and buy the BMW warranty at any point before the 4/50 is up, so you have some time to decide.
