The difference in tires alone between the Competition and CS could account for the minuscule difference in lap times.
it is amazing what a 4 door Sedan has been able to do in terms of performance envelope. For my uses I will stick with my 2020 M 5 competition and it's Uber comfortable seats and still awesome performance. However great the performance of these sedans becomes, it is still not a substitute for a true sports car. Of course there is no reason that it needs to be a substitute as people can choose which ever vehicle they like. Hats off to BMW for continuing to improve the breed.
