Also, not to put the cart before the horse, but please make sure there are a plethora of street and track pad options out there for the caliper you choose. Plus, being able to fit under 18" wheels would be total win.
I like the Brembo 17z calipers from the Touareg V6. 4 Piston, so you don't have to mess around with master cylinder issues. Piston sizes are 36/40mm. Plus, they are ~$300/pair!

The 17z calipers are 6-piston and give too much front bias + too large for the master cylinder. The 4-piston caliper from touareg isn't the 17z, but I know which caliper you are referring to. It's just a bit too ugly for me LOL. I have a list with a wholeeee bunch of calipers, it all comes down to finding one that's easy to make a bracket for.
The 18z is cheap and fits, but it requires some machining of the caliper.
GT3 calipers work and fit very nice, but the cost is prohibitive.
