I was a huge Valentine 1 fan, too. I had one in my car from 2004 up until December. However, I could not deal with the false alarms anymore and it's ridiculous to have to rig together some electrical tape to cover a sensor on a $120k car (from a supposedly top-notch $500 radar).
Was not impressed at all by the V1 version 2......R7 all day every day over the V1.

Have several of the Valentine V1 version 2. Very simple to turn off the laser in programming mode, which eliminates issue with gesture control. Unit otherwise works great for radar detection. As has been mentioned laser jammers work well, but laser detector pretty useless. My previous use of Valentine RD in other cars was a bit of a pain because reflective sunlight often sets off the laser warning, no problem with that now that I disabled laser.
