Spent about 2000 miles with both V1G2 and R7 detectors wired up simultaneously (yea, I know this can cause some interference but wanted to see if I could observe true head to head differences). Also another 1000 on each independently.
V1G2 consistently alerts Ka earlier than the R7 by 3-5 seconds. V1G2 falses to gesture control laser with obnoxious frequency to the point I disabled laser. R7 has yet to false alert laser, but agree with posters above that laser detection is just a novelty unless you have a jammer.
Arrows seem slightly more accurate with better persistence on the V1G2, but not significant enough to matter.
Had several false Ka alerts with the V1G2 where the R7 was quiet.
Integration with JBV1 app on the V1G2 is kind of cool, but for me is not a huge selling point.
V1G2 is a much smaller profile.
Ultimately I think I’ll return the V1G2, which is really disheartening as I’ve owned the first gen V1 for about 15 years. If the R7 had a slimmer profile and a Bluetooth app then it would no contest.
